The former captain of the Indian cricket team, continuing his innings from the previous day’s play, reached his half-century in 55 balls and then swiftly achieved his 47th ODI century, taking only 29 more deliveries. During this remarkable feat, Kohli surpassed the legendary Sachin Tendulkar’s record, accomplishing this milestone in just 267 innings. This remarkable achievement also solidifies his status as the fastest player to reach 8000, 9000, 10000, 11000, 12000, and now 13000 ODI runs.

Kohli took to the crease as the number three batsman following an impressive 121-run opening partnership between Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma. After the swift departures of both openers, Kohli, accompanied by the returning KL Rahul, held their ground as rain interrupted play after 24.1 overs. When the game resumed on the Reserve Day, Kohli initially played cautiously before accelerating towards the end of the innings.

In a remarkable display, Kohli concluded his innings with a spectacular 122 runs off 94 deliveries, featuring 9 boundaries and 3 maximums. Notably, when he reached the 98-run mark, he achieved the milestone of being the fastest player to amass 13,000 runs in ODIs, surpassing the legendary Sachin Tendulkar. Tendulkar reached this landmark in 321 innings, while Kohli accomplished it in just 277 innings.
